time to say good bye

a post dedicated to our "lasts"

volleyball was one of our favorite activities of the week... we are quite the competitors you know ;) (by we i mean kyle!) here's a group photo from our last one
here's some shots from our last English Lunch Table on Chuo campus

before leaving, Kyle and I had the honor to share our life stories during BEST Club's weekly meeting... we were encouraged by everyone's interest and questions and can tell that many were challenged by what we shared. Kyle's theme was Satisfaction and mine was Loss. after sharing we broke into groups and discussed these themes and what the Bible says about them... here we are with our translator Yuki; he did an amazing job! thanks Yuki!
we had our BEST Club Christmas Party on Friday! Kyle planned it with a group of students and it was a success! a Japanese nav staff shared about the meaning of Christmas, we had a traditional meal, sang songs and played a present exchange game. here's the whole group
our team/family in Japan :)

check out the spread: turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad and rolls!
it was the first time for most of them to have turkey!
Jin lead us in singing Christmas songs in English and Japanese... go, Jin!
all dressed up!

we also had our good-bye party on Sunday. we each shared about our experiences in Japan. it was fun to have everyone together, it made us so thankful for each of the friends we've made here.

hanging out at a local restaurant afterwards :)

we got to see our iowa friends who are now working in tokyo one last time! thanks for coming sachie, kazu and yuichi!

saying good bye to ayumi and sayumi and their mom

in saying good bye, many shared with us that it just didn't seem real that we were leaving. we couldn't agree more. although we're going through the motions, giving last hugs, packing our suitcases, eating sushi one last time, yet it still doesn't quite click that we're actually going back to the us... it has been such an honor to be here these two years... we get on a bus for the aiport in just 40 hours... please pray as we say good bye to more friends and the roods, as we travel and as we adjust to being back in the states... pray that we could process leaving and that God would be near to us!
